Jews, Messianic Hebrews, and Christians
A. How do the Messianic Hebrews feel they are different from Jews?
To say we are different from the Jews or anyone for that matter is just asking for trouble. We are all humans and we are all citizens of the planet Earth. We are more alike than we are different. We both believe in one Yahuah . Yahuah of Yahisrael. Yahuah, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Ya'acov ( Jacob ) . We keep all of Yahuah 's commanded Sabbaths. We keep all of Yahuah 's Commandments that we possibly can. Our days, like the Jews begin and end at sun set. We both go to synagogue. We both look forward to the coming of the Messiah. The difference is we are looking for his second coming.
The two biggest difference between the Jews and The Messianic Hebrew is the belief that Yehshua is the Only Begotten Son of Yahuah . We believe that Yehshua is the Only Begotten Son of Yahuah and the main stream Jews don't. We do our best to live Torah Observant and the Main stream Jews try to live Rabbinic Observant. The main stream Jews like the other religions prefer to obey some man's or some men's ideals rather than Yahuah 's teachings. We do not limit what, when where or how Yahuah can do something.
B. How do the Messianic Hebrews feel they are different from Christians?
I will say it once again just rephrase it. "To say we are different from the Christians or anyone for that matter is just asking for trouble. We are all humans and we are all citizens of the planet Earth." However in Beliefs we are very much different. About the only common belief we do have is that the Messiah has came once and shall come again. Christians and I am not saying all Christians just most, pray to and call upon the names of strange gods which we are forbidden to do. Christians all, keep the pagan holy days. They openly keep the Pagan Holidays such as Easter, Halloween, and Christmas. We have heard the arguments that it is just a day that people celebrate something good on even if it is a pagan holiday. That they celebrate something else on that day. In our view you can pen up a pig tattoo the word cow on it's side raise it for far however long call it a cow every day, but when you have it butchered it will still be pork not beef. Regardless of what you call a holy day it is what has always been and what it was set aside to be.
C. Do Messianic Hebrews have a Missionary service?
We do not practice the art of Missionary Service as such. The way we recruit converts is through the way we live, say and do things. We try to be a living example and if people want to become a part of our way of life, they are counseled and discouraged from converting. After all this if they still want to join we will permit them to do so. We do go to people of other religions and beliefs to talk to them when they ask us to do so, otherwise we just live an exemplary life style.
When people ask "Why should I become a Messianic Hebrew?" The answer is always the same, "You shouldn't." "I would not recommend it to anyone." This often brings and rather bewildered look on the face of the person asking the question. The plane simple truth is to become a Messianic Hebrew is to invite persecution from every possible direction. The main Stream Jews will accuse you of being none Jew and being Christian. The Christians will not want to have anything to do with you and call you a Jew. The Messianic Hebrews are closer to Judaism than Christianity. We are not all Jews nor are we like the Jews in many aspect. We are closer to what the first century Jews who believed that Yehshua was the Messiah, and they were called Nazarenes. We are very much like the Nazarene Jews in our ways and beliefs, however we do have small differences. Being a Messianic Hebrew is a way of life as much as it is a religion. We try to remove ourselves as much as feasible from the rest of the world and still be a light unto them and teach them.
D. Do Messianic Hebrew discourage Marriages between other races and /or Religions?
Yes to both questions. It is commanded that a man should marry, and it is even in our by-laws that a man and woman must join together. Mankind alone seems to have a problem following the teachings of Yahuah that every creature shall bring forth off springs after their own kind. All other mammals and fish do so unless acted upon by man. Horses keep to horses, and cattle keep to cattle, and sheep with sheep, and birds to birds. With in these groups there are "families" such as donkeys and horses are of the same family. As is Bob Cats and Mountain Lions are both of the cat family. They do not interbreed and they are an example to us we to are not to interbreed. Jews marry Jews. Messianic Hebrews marry Messianic Hebrews and Christians marry Christians, with in this group there are Baptist and Catholics and others, they too should marry their own kind. Whites should marry Whites, Blacks should marry Blacks, Asians should marry Asians. If they don't to what kind shall they belong? to what kind shall their children belong? Marriage today is hard enough with out bring into the marriage problems such as religious or racial, ethnic, and cultural difference.
E. Are Messianic Hebrew services open to everyone?
All weekly and most High Sabbath services is open to anyone who wants to attend. The biggest difference about a Messianic Hebrew service is that it can last for three or four hours. Not the customary one hour service Christians are use to.
In Orthodox Messianic Hebrew Synagogues there are three services everyday. Every one is welcome to all of these services.
F. Are all Holiday services open to everyone?
Every Messianic Hebrew Holiday service is not open to all. There is one service that is not open to all, that service is Pass Over. The Pass Over service is open to all women and girls. However, for a man or male child over the age of 13 to join in they must be circumcised. If this person is not a member of the Messianic Hebrew Community then they will be checked. Now if the Male has been circumcised then they are permitted to join in the service.
Before the Passover service begins we recomend every person, man and women enter a Mikvah and be submerged completely. This should be done with in three days of Pass Over.
G. Are Messianic Hebrews discouraged from going to Jewish Synagogues or Christian Churches?
To the contrary we encourage our people to go to other synagogues and to
Christian Churches. If we forbid them to go to these places then we would
not be doing our part in spreading the word of Yahuah to the rest of the
world. When we go to these places, as with any other place we go, we try
to be on our best behavior and show the people who we are and what we are
about. Actions speak much louder than words. We do not go to such places
in order to stir up trouble but to merely point the way.
